Vegan chili bento for hubby

Hubby is not a vegan, or a vegetarian, but he doesn’t like dairy, so if I make him a meatless bento, by default it’s vegan.  Here he has a container of chili, with a lettuce leaf to somewhat contain the sauce, brown rice, veggies, and black olives.  He doesn’t like to heat up bentos (he’s one of those people who can eat leftovers right out of the fridge, too), so he’s quite content to have everything in one layer to ‘graze’ on through his workday.

It’s nice to share the occasional vegan bento for hubby, but I am comfortable in my decision to keep this blog vegetarian, so I don’t feel this desire to blog all 3 lunches for our family every day.  It’s not just me who gets tasty bento lunches ’round here!

  1. I like the idea of the lettuce containing most of the chili. My husband is also not a vegetarian. Sometimes I make a vegetarian bento for him but normally he packs his own lunch (often with meat).

    • If I didn’t pack his lunches, I’m sure some days he wouldn’t get around to it, and he’s one of those people who can/will go all day without food, which I don’t think is healthy! I am the one who does the most cooking. I make veg food, and he cooks and adds his own meat when he wants it. It’s not a big thing for me to take some meat and add it to bentos, but I manage a veg bento 2-3 days a week for him.

    • The hubster loves black olives! He’s more of a graze-on-what’s-in-the-box rather than a proper lunch type of eater… and there was that small handful of olives in the fridge, and I LOVE emptying containers! I’m glad you enjoy my site – thank you for the compliment.

Tell us veggie bento lovers what you think!
